WBB: Viking Women Sign Central Cass Product

Dixon scored over 1,000 points in her Central Cass High School career. 

Valley City State University head women's basketball coach Jill DeVries is pleased to announce the signing of Central Cass high school forward Courtney Dixon to a NAIA letter-of-intent.

Dixon, a 5'9' forward, averaged 12 points and seven rebounds while shooting 49% from the floor and 35% from beyond the arc her senior season for the Squirrels. Dixon also has been named All-District First Team 3-times, All-Wild Rice Conference 3-times and to the 2009 and 2010 North Dakota State Class B All-Tournament teams.

'We are so excited that Courtney has decided to play her college basketball at VCSU. She is a skilled small forward with range.' says DeVries. 'She has played in a winning basketball program at the high school level, and her experience in big games will be invaluable at the collegiate level.'

Dixon finishes her career for the Squirrels with 1036 career points, 639 boards, 134 assists, 120 blocks and 118 steals. She helped lead the 2012 Central Cass girl's basketball team to a 20-3 finish this season.

'Courtney is a competitor on and off of the court. She represents the hard work that VCSU women's basketball expects in the classroom as well as athletically.' says DeVries. 'She's an outstanding young person and we look forward to her being on campus in the fall.'
