WBB: Season high 94 points boosts VCSU past J&W

The Viking women's basketball team posted a season-high 94 points Saturday as they knocked off Johnson and Wales 94-78 in Denver, Colo.

Brittany Lehner led the potent offensive attack with 33 points. She was one of four Vikings in double figures. Ashli Lee scored 14 points off the bench, and Sierra Even and Stephanie Pedersen each poured in 13 points.

VCSU shot 41 percent from the field (30-for-74) and 38 percent on 3's (8-for-21). The Vikings also made 26 of 35 free throw attempts.

VCSU trailed just once in the game, 8-7, and held a steady lead through most of the second half after leading 54-44 at the break.

The Vikings are now 8-6 after sweeping their two games in Colorado. VCSU has won four games in a row and five of the last six.

Up next: The Viking women will host Trinity Bible College on Monday night at 5:30 p.m. Johnson and Wales will make a return trip to Valley City on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. game. Both nights are doubleheaders with the men playing at 7:30 p.m.
