TUITION AND PAYMENTS

  • Tuition for private music lessons covers 30 lessons from late August to May (a full year of lessons) and a $15 flat, non-refundable book fee is included in each semester's payment.
  • Tuition is payable in advance.  It is assumed that students have enrolled for an entire year of private music lessons upon completion of fall registration paperwork.
  • Payment for musical activities may be made in two semester installments (due in August and December) or in one payment for the year, due August.
  • Tuition for music ensembles covers the academic year and is payable in one or two installments.  Online registration is available for the ensembles.
  • The tuition for group art classes is arranged before each set of glasses begins.
  • Students starting private music lessons mid-semester will have tuition pro-rated.
  • Checks should be made out to: VCSU Community School of the Arts or VCSU CSA.

RECITALS, PERFORMANCE CLASSES, AND OTHER PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

  • Refunds, credits, or makeup lessons will not be given for lessons, rehearsals, or classes missed or canceled by the student.
  • If a teacher misses a lesson, however, the instructor will arrange a make-up day with the student.
  • If VCSU is closed due to severe weather conditions, Community School activities will not be held, and lessons and classes will be made up at the teacher's convenience.  Watch tv/radio for VCSU closure announcements.
  • Recitals will be held in December and May.
  • Other performance opportunities include the Chamber Music Festival.
  • Performance classes (rehearsals in Froemke Auditorium that teach stage presence in addition to improving recital pieces) help to prepare students for recitals in a small and familiar gathering of peers. These will be held 1-2 times a semester before the end-of-semester recitals.
  • Community School performance opportunities are designed to help students develop self-confidence, poise, stage presence, and discipline while expressing musical creativity.

CLOTHING FOR ART CLASSES

  • Art lessons can be messy. Students should dress appropriately and/or have an apron or paint shirt.
