SB: Vikings Split in Tucson

Katarina Boychuk led the Vikings to a win in Tucson going three for four at the plate and scoring three runs in a 16-3 defeat of Missouri Valley College. 

The Viking Softball team offense erupted in game one on Wednesday at the Tucson Invitational Games, beating Missouri Valley College 16-3 before the bats fell silent and the Vikings were shut out by Baker University (KS) 7-0 in the night cap.

Katarina Boychuk led the Viking onslaught with a three for four performance at the plate and score three runs. Courtney Shadlock also scored three runs, reaching base three times via base on balls. Savannah McMillin and Liz Hall-Sewell each collected two hits, with McMillin knocking in four Viking runs and Hall-Sewell three.

Mackenzie Hamre collected her first collegiate home run, an inside the park homer in the top of the fifth inning.

Torri Fenton notched her first collegiate win as a pitcher, surrendering three runs-one earned, on four hits and walking one.

The final game of the day was all Baker University. The Warriors scored two in the top of the first and never looked back as they ran away with the 7-0 victory.

The Vikings mustered only four hits after posting a season high 12 in the previous game. Stephanie Lahey hit two for three in the game while Mack Hamre and Liz Hall-Sewell each collected singles.

The Vikings will have a rematch with Purdue University-North Central on Thursday morning before completing their spring break trip against Judson University.
