SB: Blue Hawks Defeat Valley City State

Dickinson State scored three runs in the top of the seventh to put stymie any thought the Vikings might have of a home team bottom of the 7th rally to come out with a 7-1 victory.

The Blue Hawks struck first to jump to a 2-0 lead on a two run home run off starter Samantha Nalley in the top of the fourth.

The Viking rallied with a run in the home half of the same inning when Stephanie Lahey scored on Caitlin Giesbrecht's ground rule double, her second two bagger of the game. That double chased the Blue Hawk's starter from the game. After the pitching switch, the Vikings wouldn't threaten again.

Despite hitting the ball hard, Valley City State was limited to three hits in the game, all ground rule doubles. Giesbrecht collected two doubles in her 2-3 effort and Hayley Bevan cranked out a double in a 1-3 outing.

Valley City State moves to 0-4 on the young season. Their next games will be at the Tucson Invitational Games on Friday when they open versus Olivet Nazarene University. The Vikings will play 12 games over six days in Tucson.
