Vikings up to #16 in Top 25 Football Poll

The Valley City State football team moved up two spots to No. 16 in this week's NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll released Monday.

The Vikings (4-1, 2-0 North Star) are coming off a 31-17 homecoming victory over Presentation College. The Vikings trailed 17-10 in the third quarter, but scored the final 21 points of the game to stay undefeated in conference play.

VCSU received 132 points in this week's poll as they jumped up two spots to No. 16 in the nation. The Vikings are on the road, Saturday, Oct 12, for a 2 p.m. contest at Mayville State University.

Morningside College, the only team to beat VCSU this year, remains a unanimous No. 1 with a 4-0 record. The Mustangs are followed by Cumberland (Ky.) at No. 2.

Grand View (Iowa), Saint Francis (Ind.) and Benedictine (Kan.) round out the Top 5.

Valley City State is the only school from the Dakotas to be ranked this season.
