Why did you choose VCSU?
I chose VCSU because when I came here on my visit I got along great with everyone on the team that I met, and I felt like this school would be a good fit for me, and that I could make an impact on and off the field here.

Do you have a favorite class or professor?
My favorite professor is Dr. Brenda Finger. If you are a business major I suggest you take as many classes with her as you can because she is an amazing teacher and is very helpful and understanding.

What is Coach Mac like?
Coach Mac is a great leader. He does an excellent job coaching the team and picking a supporting staff that is very knowledgeable and helpful as well.

Do you have a career highlight?
My career highlight is every time we beat Jamestown. There is nothing like beating your rival team, and bringing home the Paintbucket!

What are your plans after graduation?
After I graduate in December, I have an internship at a resort in Mexico. I was able to get this internship because we have a sister school in La Paz, and the Spanish department has several connections in La Paz.

What does Viking Pride mean to you?
Viking Pride is about being devoted to my team, and believing that no other place is better than VCSU. It's about being proud to be a Viking everywhere I go, and knowing that I will wear the Viking colors for the rest of my life.

Comments from Coach McCulloch
'Garrett is the special kind of young man every team needs. Not only is he an excellent football player who has made us more athletic on the field – he makes other people around him better. Garrett suffered a devastating knee injury in our opening contest his senior year. He decided he would not go out like that. He worked at his rehab and helped coach the team last season to a conference championship and playoff appearance. He came back this season and has made a difference in our team on and off the field. I am honored to have coached him.'
