Football: Trujillo, Asuncion voted Team Captains

Valley City State University football seniors George Trujillo and Pathen Asuncion have been voted 2014 Team Captains by their teammates.

Trujillo and Asuncion were named captains following the conclusion of spring practice. Two more captains will be named after fall camp.

Trujillo is a native of El Paso, Texas. He is a 2-time All-Conference selection on the offensive line and also served as a team captain in 2013. Trujillo is majoring in human services and psychology at VCSU.

Asuncion will be a team captain for the first time at VCSU. He is a native of Waipahu, Hawaii and recorded 42 tackles last season as a defensive back. Asuncion is majoring in exercise science while at VCSU.

The Viking football team is seeking its fourth straight conference title in 2014. VCSU is scheduled to open the season against rival University of Jamestown, Aug. 28 in Valley City.

Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the North Star Athletic Association.
