The number 15 ranked Valley City State University Viking men led by nine points at the break, but a strong second half surge pushed Johnson and Wales (CO) to a 74-69 A. I. I. Conference win.
In a game that saw 67 total free throws shot between the two teams, it was the hot shooting from beyond the arc that sunk the Vikings ship. Senior Sekani Milligen scored a game high 31 points in the victory including shooting 10-11 from the free throw line. Aaron Duske also hit double figures with 11 for the Vikings. Gus Kueber led Valley City State on the boards, pulling down eight.
The road loss drops the Vikings to 9-3 on the season and snaps their five game winning streak. Valley City State will travel to the Whittier College Tournament in Whittier, CA for a two game tournament on December 29-30.
