Valley City State University (VCSU) Head Men's Basketball Coach, Jeff Kaminsky, has announced that Gus Kueber has recently signed a Letter of Intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking basketball program for the 2012-2013 season. He will join a Viking team that returns 11 players who participated on the 2011-12 team that won 20 games and was ranked in the top 25 for seven consecutive weeks.
Kueber, a 6'7 Forward from Aneta, ND, comes to VCSU after playing last season at Mayville State University, where he averaged 17.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game on his way to being named 1st team All-Dakota Athletic Conference and 1st team All-Association of Independent Institutions.
Prior to last season at Mayville State, Kueber was a standout player at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, ND. His sophomore season was especially successful, as he averaged 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds and was named 2nd team All-Conference in the Mon-Dak.
Kueber's high school career was one filled with accolades as well, where as a senior he led his Dakota Prairie Knights to a runner-up finish at the 2009 North Dakota State Class B Tournament and was named to the All-State Team. Fans may most vividly remember Kueber's triple-double performance against Berthold in the quarterfinal game at the state tournament where he put up a memorable 27 points, 16 rebounds and 11 blocks.
Kueber will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Vikings.
