Valley City State University (VCSU) Head Men's Basketball Coach, Jeff Kaminsky, has announced that Sedrick Jennings from Killeen High School in Killeen, TX has recently signed a Letter of Intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking basketball program beginning with the 2012-13 school year where he plans on majoring in Business Administration. The Vikings finished the 2011-2012 season 20-10 and were nationally ranked in the Top 25 NAIA Division 2 Poll for seven consecutive weeks.

Sedrick, a 6'2 wing, had an outstanding career at Killeen High School where he played a major role for the Kangaroos who finished the 2010-2011 season 31-4. Sedrick averaged 13.2 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He was named 1st Team All-District in District 8-4A his senior season. This past season (2011-2012) Sedrick played at Temple College and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Vikings. Killeen High School Head Coach Jason Fossett comments, 'Sedrick is a quality kid that will provide solid perimeter shooting as well as being able to help handle the ball when necessary.'

VCSU Head Coach Jeff Kaminsky also comments on Jennings, 'We are excited to have Sedrick join our program. He has experienced a high level of success in an extremely competitive area of Texas high school basketball. Sedrick's ability to score will add another perimeter weapon to our offense. Being from a highly successful program, Sedrick understands how to use his ability and be unselfish at the same time. His athleticism will be a great fit in our defenseive system. He has the character, work ethic, and ability that make him a welcomed addition to our program.'

Sedrick came recommended to VCSU by Debbie McKelvy, Site Director for Communities in Schools – Greater Central Texas. Deb has been a tremendous resource in helping numerous students from the Killeen area to find collegiate opportunities. Sedrick Jennings is the fourth student-athlete from Killeen to join the Viking Program under Coach Kaminsky. Former VCSU standout Ray King from Ellison High School and current Vikings A.J. McDonald and Malcolm McDonald from Shoemaker High School are the other three.
