Late Rally Earns Vikings a Spilt in Arizona

The Vikings were down to there last out and looking at being swept by the Lancers of Mount Marty.

Then VCSU rattled off six straight hits to score four runs to take the lead. Bryce Venaas threw a complete game for VCSU and earned the win.

The rally started with a single by Colin Waldner, another by Scott Stephenson, a double by Dan Buehner, and single by Tom Houdek to score Buehner and tie the game.

Pinch Runner Cliff Vazquez stole second to move the go ahead run into scoring position. Pinch hitter Josiah Churchill hit an infield single to put runners on the corners and Anthony Myer cashed in Vazquez to give the Vikings the lead. It was Myers third hit of the game.

Venaas would throw a scoreless 7th inning to preserve the win.

Buehner and Waldner also collect three hit for the Vikings.

GAME 1:

The Vikings trailed by four heading into the seventh inning and scored three runs to make it 7-8. With runners on 2nd and 3rd Mike Gershman lined sharply to 3rd for the final out of the game.

Ryan Shaw went six innings and took the loss for the Vikings.
