Casey Olney begins his third season at VCSU and first season as Head Coach taking over for VCSU baseball staple Cory Anderson. Olney joined the Vikings staff in 2005 serving as hitting coach, recruiting coordinator, and strength / conditioning coach.
Olney, 31, is a native of Flaxton, ND. He attended Cibola H.S. in Yuma, AZ and graduated from Central College (IA) in 2004 with a BA in business education. Olney was voted a team co-captain at Central College in 2004 and received the Central baseball team’s Versteeg Award for outstanding leadership and sportsmanship.
He previously coached youth baseball at the Babe Ruth League and American Legion levels in North Dakota. His 2004 Bismarck Babe Ruth squad won championships at the District, State, and Midwest Plains levels before capturing 3rd place and the Babe Ruth World Series.
Olney also was the head coach for two seasons in Bowbells ND with the American Legion program and was an assistant coach Pella High School and at Central College. He was in charge of the Junior Varsity at both programs and assisted with recruiting at Central.
